PRO TIP:

When evaluating whether a mentor would be a good match for your student keep in mind that the greatest leading indicator of success is how well a mentor and their mentee get along.

Questions to ask yourself:

  • Would the student find this person inspiring?
  • Do they share any interests, hobbies, or lived experiences?

Abdulrahman B. (IN A NUTSHELL)

Omar started his company, Gridware Technologies, in 2020 to detect and prevent powerline-caused wildfires. Since then, he grew the company from 2 to 20 employees, raised more than $20M in venture capital, and deployed their technology in California, Colorado, and Utah. In 2022, Omar was featured as one of Forbes 30 under 30 list for Social Impact. Before starting his company, Omar graduated from UC Berkeley with a master degree in Product Development after 5 years of working at the largest energy companies as an engineer. During his tenure as an employee, he used his knowledge of chemical engineering to invent a state-of-the-art nano-material. His patented technology optimized the energy production process by 3%, leading to more than $300 million in additional profit for his company. Omar was named the top young professional of the year twice in a row in his company before leaving to pursue his dream to be an entrepreneur.
