PRO TIP:

When evaluating whether a mentor would be a good match for your student keep in mind that the greatest leading indicator of success is how well a mentor and their mentee get along.

Questions to ask yourself:

  • Would the student find this person inspiring?
  • Do they share any interests, hobbies, or lived experiences?

Anna E. (IN A NUTSHELL)

Anna is a sophomore pursuing Aerospace Engineering at Stanford University. She is originally from Louisville, Kentucky. Anna explored many different interests in high school, from competing in sports like cross country and swimming to science competitions and working on the funding team for a nonprofit designed to make STEM education more equitable in Kentucky. She served on the Youth Infusion board at the Kentucky Science Center, where she learned how to design exhibits, develop activities, and plan events to make science education more accessible and exciting to students. She also competed in the Intel Science and Engineering Fair, where she became a finalist for the international fair and later served as a mentor to several other student competitors from her school. At Stanford, Anna is a member of the Student Space Initiative and part of the Adventure Program community. She knows what it feels like to be a student overwhelmed with choices for their future and passionate about many different subjects, and loves to help other students explore their interests.
