PRO TIP:

When evaluating whether a mentor would be a good match for your student keep in mind that the greatest leading indicator of success is how well a mentor and their mentee get along.

Questions to ask yourself:

  • Would the student find this person inspiring?
  • Do they share any interests, hobbies, or lived experiences?

Ben K. (IN A NUTSHELL)

Benjamin graduated from Northwestern University's School of Communications in June, 2022, with a double major in radio/television/film and history. At Northwestern, Benjamin participated in the Advanced Directing program, where he created a short thesis film called "You're Drifting," transforming personal memories and emotions into a narrative that touches on the universal struggle of being young and lost in an increasingly complex and unknown world. In high school, Benjamin created a short film called "Strangers," which premiered at the All American High School film festival, as well as a sports documentary following his high school hockey team, titled "The Road to Poly." Benjamin's academic interests and strengths have always been within the humanities; while he concentrated in Asian and Middle Eastern History in college, Benjamin has taken courses in U.S. history, contemporary literature, and philosophy. In the future, Benjamin hopes to employ his intellectual and creative skills to build a career as an independent filmmaker.
