PRO TIP:

When evaluating whether a mentor would be a good match for your student keep in mind that the greatest leading indicator of success is how well a mentor and their mentee get along.

Questions to ask yourself:

  • Would the student find this person inspiring?
  • Do they share any interests, hobbies, or lived experiences?

Brooke S. (IN A NUTSHELL)

Brooke is a rising sophomore at Harvard College studying Applied Math and Economics. She was born and raised in Los Angeles, California and attended Harvard-Westlake High School in Studio City. In high school, Brooke participated in student government as well as varsity soccer and track. At Harvard, she is a math teaching assistant and a volunteer for the Petey Greene Program, a foundation which supports the academic goals of incarcerated and formerly incarcerated people through high-quality volunteer tutoring programs. She is incredibly passionate about criminal justice reform, and has spent a lot of her free time reading works by Bryan Stevenson, Michelle Alexander, and Angela Davis. She also loves math and is excited to hopefully inspire a similar appreciation for math in her students. She hopes to one day pursue a career in data analytics. Outside of school, Brooke loves to read, cook, watch movies, and hike with her dogs. She also loves to travel, and is currently spending the summer in Lisbon studying data science. She can’t wait to meet her future mentees!
