PRO TIP:

When evaluating whether a mentor would be a good match for your student keep in mind that the greatest leading indicator of success is how well a mentor and their mentee get along.

Questions to ask yourself:

  • Would the student find this person inspiring?
  • Do they share any interests, hobbies, or lived experiences?

Charlotte M. (IN A NUTSHELL)

Charlotte is a rising sophomore at Stanford University pursuing her interests in psychology and computer science by majoring in Symbolic Systems. She is from Redondo Beach, California and graduated from Redondo Union High School in 2020. Throughout high school, she worked with the National Charity League, volunteering with local philanthropies, earning the Presidential Volunteer Service Award for over 100 hours of service. She also explored her interests in politics by working as an intern at the House of Representatives and being the President of the Model United Nations Club. Her love and interest in advocacy continues in her activism for women’s rights and accessible healthcare. One of Charlotte’s biggest passions is empowering women to pursue STEM careers and guiding them through the male dominated workforces found in many STEM fields. She has put on forums and published articles educating the public about avenues for women to pursue their STEM interests and supporting girls in underrepresented areas as they work towards higher education. In her Gap Year, she worked as a Psychology Intern, supervising individual and group counseling, crisis intervention, support groups, and outreach to serve struggling youth in the Los Angeles area. At Stanford, Charlotte works in the Language and Cognition Lab, conducting research on how children learn in and understand noisy environments. Outside of school, Charlotte loves playing beach volleyball and spending time outdoors. She loves traveling, exploring new cities, and meeting new people!
