PRO TIP:

When evaluating whether a mentor would be a good match for your student keep in mind that the greatest leading indicator of success is how well a mentor and their mentee get along.

Questions to ask yourself:

  • Would the student find this person inspiring?
  • Do they share any interests, hobbies, or lived experiences?

Dean T. (IN A NUTSHELL)

Dean is a first year medical student at the Stanford University School of Medicine. He also completed his undergraduate degree at Stanford, where he studied Computer Science with a concentration in Artificial Intelligence.

Being someone shaped by the invaluable support and guidance of mentors, he has always made it a personal goal to be on the giving side of the equation. As a mentor at Curious Cardinals, he hopes to make the same impact on younger students that others have had on him.

Dean has extensive experience with standardized testing preparation (ACT, SAT, AP, MCAT) and has taken high level coursework in biology, chemistry, physics, math, statistics, and computer science. Furthermore, he is well-versed in personal narrative writing and application building. Dean has also been involved in several research projects resulting in publications to peer-reviewed journals, including as a first-author, and he has been a founder and president of a few student organizations throughout high school and undergraduate.

In his free time, Dean loves to watch movies (ask him about his Letterboxd!), watch and play soccer (huge Real Madrid fan), and play basketball (he played in high school but sticks to pickup nowadays). Recently, he has been getting into pickleball with his family, learning to play guitar, and trying to read more books!
