Ellie E. (IN A NUTSHELL)
Ellie is a recent graduate of Northwestern University. She majored in journalism and minored in both legal studies and business, with a certificate in marketing. She believes that everyone, regardless of their line of work or study, benefits from being able to clearly articulate their thoughts on paper.
Ellie went to high school in the suburbs of Chicago. During her time as an editor for the school’s award-winning yearbook, she found her passion for storytelling. When it came time to apply to colleges, she knew Northwestern’s Medill School of Journalism was the place for her.
During her time at Northwestern, she gained valuable experiences both in and out of the classroom. In classes like “Reporting & Writing,” “Multimedia Storytelling,” “Media Law & Ethics,” she learned the ins and outs of interviewing, researching and writing a story.
Outside of the classroom, she gained hands-on investigative journalism experience. During the summer of 2020, she interned for the Medill Investigative Lab and contributed three pieces to the “51 lost lives: A portrait of the pandemic’s tragic toll in America’s nursing homes” project that was published in the Washington Post.
For her journalism residency, Ellie worked as a public affairs trainee at Kivvit, a Public Relations and Strategic Communications firm. During her time there, she conducted research for potential new business proposals, monitored news coverage and public sentiment for clients and crafted communications on behalf of the company, such as press releases, blog posts and letters to the editor.
In summer of 2021, she interned as a content strategist for Nasdaq in New York City where she now works full time. In her role, she writes thought leadership pieces on behalf of the enterprise to elevate the brand and its mission as a whole. She also works on Nasdaq’s original series - such as its podcast and mini video series.
On the weekends, you can find Ellie playing pickleball at Pier 2 trying to work up the nerve to play on the challenger court, dillydallying through the aisles of Trader Joes or playing Code Names with her roommates.
