PRO TIP:

When evaluating whether a mentor would be a good match for your student keep in mind that the greatest leading indicator of success is how well a mentor and their mentee get along.

Questions to ask yourself:

  • Would the student find this person inspiring?
  • Do they share any interests, hobbies, or lived experiences?

Emma C. (IN A NUTSHELL)

Hi! I’m Emma—I grew up in the northern suburbs of Chicago and recently graduated from Middlebury College with a B.A. in Creative Writing. During my first two years at Middlebury, I played on the Women’s Varsity Volleyball team. After stepping away from the court, I got involved in WRMC Middlebury College Radio and joined Middlebury Discount Comedy, a sketch writing and performance group that became a creative home for me. I’ve always loved stories—whether through books, essays, photos, or collages. I believe every piece of art has something to teach us, and I’m drawn to anything hands-on and expressive. Reading, writing, photography, and drawing are my go-to ways of exploring the world and understanding myself.

My curiosity has taken me around the world: I studied Art History at Oxford during my sophomore summer and spent a semester abroad in Amsterdam, biking everywhere and soaking up the city’s culture. I hope to teach English abroad in the future and can’t wait for whatever adventure comes next! Right now, I’m Copywriting for an ad agency called Imre based in NYC, where I get to combine my love of language, creativity, and psychology.

One day, I’d love to be a professor—I’m especially curious about the intersections of art, psychology, and how we tell stories that resonate. I love working with students and helping them tap into their curiosity, voice, and confidence. Whether we’re writing creatively, building a passion project, or finding joy in a new book, I aim to create an open, encouraging space where students feel seen and supported. I can’t wait to meet your child and help them explore whatever sparks their imagination!

Watch Emma C. break down a subject they’re passionate about.

WHY THIS MATTERS:

Our mentorship sessions happen virtually over Zoom. It’s important to get a sense of how someone’s personality can come through on a video call. The best way to ensure your student is excited about learning is to have someone on the other side that they look forward to talking to.

Middlebury College

GREATEST ACHIEVEMENT (SO FAR)

Getting into Middlebury as a Student Athlete will always be something I am very proud of. It took serious hard work, sacrifice, and diligence. I was committed to making this dream happen for myself, and I let nothing stand in the way. I trained outside of mandatory hours, spent days putting together highlight videos, and emailing and calling coaches. When I finally achieved this dream, I felt so proud of myself!

I think in life, it is so valuable to work hard, achieve a goal, and watch the achievement reveal itself.
