PRO TIP:

When evaluating whether a mentor would be a good match for your student keep in mind that the greatest leading indicator of success is how well a mentor and their mentee get along.

Questions to ask yourself:

  • Would the student find this person inspiring?
  • Do they share any interests, hobbies, or lived experiences?

Eva N. (IN A NUTSHELL)

Eva is a second year graduate student at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology pursuing a Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering. Her main research focus is at the MIT Sports Lab where she is using novel motion capture algorithms to detect BMX Freestyle tricks. She spent her first year conducting research as a member of the Biomechatronics Lab in the MIT Media Lab, designing prostheses, focusing on ones that improve sport accessibility.

Eva graduated from Stanford University in June 2022 with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. At Stanford, she was on the Division I Rowing Team. Now in Cambridge, Eva misses the year round sunshine and surrounding nature NorCal had to offer, but has found a way to be outside as much as possible, whether it be rowing on the Charles River or hiking in the Vermont foliage. When not in lab or class she likes to explore Boston and the surrounding areas with her friends. She is always down for an adventure to a nearby beach town or ice cream shop.

Eva grew up in Narberth, PA, right outside of Philadelphia. She will always be an Eagles fan. Eva is very appreciative for the opportunities she was given at her public high school. Both of her parents are teachers and it was during these formative years she saw the impact teaching has on students. She is grateful that she was taught to love learning and looks forward to spreading this joy with younger students.
