PRO TIP:

When evaluating whether a mentor would be a good match for your student keep in mind that the greatest leading indicator of success is how well a mentor and their mentee get along.

Questions to ask yourself:

  • Would the student find this person inspiring?
  • Do they share any interests, hobbies, or lived experiences?

Ismael P. (IN A NUTSHELL)

Hey there! I'm Ismael, but you can call me Isma. I'm currently a Dual Degree student at Northwestern University, where I'm pursuing degrees in Vocal Performance and Journalism in the Medill School, with a major in Political Science.

Originally from Medellín, Colombia, I grew up in Miami, Florida, so I’m deeply connected to my Colombian roots and culture. My background has really shaped who I am, and I love blending my Colombian heritage with my experiences in the U.S.

I graduated from the highly competitive New World School of the Arts in Miami, where I was involved in the Spanish Honor Society, Student Government, and the Black Student Union.

At Northwestern, I've participated in a variety of operatic productions, performed in a theater rendition of In the Heights, and handled public relations for various organizations and companies in the hospitality sector.

I’m excited to offer mentorship in a range of areas, including essay help, Spanish language tutoring, homework assistance, passion projects, history, literature, vocabulary, geography, and music. Let’s connect and make great things happen!

GREATEST ACHIEVEMENT (SO FAR)

My greatest achievement was creating a way in which my high school's tradition of having the annual "hispanic heritage show" was accomplished while in quarantine. This virtual version of the longstanding tradition allowed my piers and I to express our art while in the confinement of our homes in such a trivial time where we didn't have the ability to sing, dance, or act as we had done before.
