PRO TIP:

When evaluating whether a mentor would be a good match for your student keep in mind that the greatest leading indicator of success is how well a mentor and their mentee get along.

Questions to ask yourself:

  • Would the student find this person inspiring?
  • Do they share any interests, hobbies, or lived experiences?

James F. (IN A NUTSHELL)

Originally from a small village in Nottingham, UK, James is a sophomore at Harvard University studying Government and Economics with a language citation in French. After spending his childhood surrounded by books and building close relationships with his high school teachers, James has always been passionate about learning and understands the importance and lasting effects of good mentorship. As the first student from his school to be accepted to Harvard, James has since gained a lot of experience tutoring students of all ages and backgrounds with the goal of inspiring all of his mentees to achieve their dreams. He also likes to give back to his local community, where he has tutored children from underprivileged backgrounds for free and helped them through the college admissions process - with two of his mentees last year attending an ivy league school on a full scholarship. At Harvard, James is involved in a variety of campus organizations and studies a broad array of subjects as he is eager to take advantage of the academic flexibility. Notably, James sits on the board of Harvard's Intercollegiate Model United Nations team, is co-president of the International Relations on Campus Committee, is a case team leader for The Harvard College Consulting Group, and also enjoys playing Club Soccer. Aside from his school life, James is an avid runner, a keen fan of literature, and enjoys writing poetry and acting.
