PRO TIP:

When evaluating whether a mentor would be a good match for your student keep in mind that the greatest leading indicator of success is how well a mentor and their mentee get along.

Questions to ask yourself:

  • Would the student find this person inspiring?
  • Do they share any interests, hobbies, or lived experiences?

Kelly N. (IN A NUTSHELL)

Kelly is a sophomore at Stanford University majoring in Human Biology, hoping to combine her interests in nutrition, neuroscience, and how to design successful, mission-driven companies to elevate human health. She is from Sacramento, CA and attended St. Francis High School. One of Kelly’s favorite internships has been at Madefor, a health and wellness startup that helps people unlock lasting behavioral change while guiding them on their own unique paths towards sustained wellness. Madefor combines Kelly’s passions and she has learned a lot about the neuroscience of positive psychology and behavior reinforcement through this experience. Over the past year, she has been interning at Montage Ventures, an early-stage Silicon Valley venture capital firm. She loves being on pitch calls with founders of startups and learning about their companies-- from creation stories, to business models, to plans to scale. She is a proud team member on The Farmlink Project, a nonprofit grassroots organization founded by college students to combat food insecurity accelerated by the COVID-19 pandemic. Farmlink has furthered her curiosity about the food system in America, and what changes must be made to fight food insecurity and make nutritious food accessible to all. In her free time, you can find Kelly curled up with a book, on a run, coffee walking with friends, or sampling all of the Salt and Straw ice cream flavors with her crew teammates.
