PRO TIP:

When evaluating whether a mentor would be a good match for your student keep in mind that the greatest leading indicator of success is how well a mentor and their mentee get along.

Questions to ask yourself:

  • Would the student find this person inspiring?
  • Do they share any interests, hobbies, or lived experiences?

Lily W. (IN A NUTSHELL)

Lily is a sophomore at Northwestern University studying journalism and international studies. She was always super interested in political reporting and loves working for Northwestern's student-run broadcast station. She got into finance originally through writing stories for CNBC about financial products last summer, and this summer she'll be an investment banking analyst at Bank of America. In high school, she built a global youth-led newspaper called The Iris with reporters scattered across the world. She was recognized in Forbes for the work she did on her newspaper. She loves reading (especially Patti Smith books and journalists' memoirs), broadcast news, history, learning languages (favorite is French! also loved Arabic) and eating pasta.
