PRO TIP:

When evaluating whether a mentor would be a good match for your student keep in mind that the greatest leading indicator of success is how well a mentor and their mentee get along.

Questions to ask yourself:

  • Would the student find this person inspiring?
  • Do they share any interests, hobbies, or lived experiences?

Macarthy M. (IN A NUTSHELL)

Macarthy is a sophomore at the University of Southern California pursuing a major in computational neuroscience. She loves journaling and writing, which she explores through the Thematic Option Honors Writing Program. She is passionate about the brain’s unique role in our being and how neuroscience impacts our every day lives. She is also particularly interested in sleep and hopes to help those who might struggle. In high school, Macarthy enjoyed working with children with special needs. She believed in their potential and in their intelligence. Her experiences furthered her interest in the brain and psychology. She hopes to bring awareness to those with special needs and give them the same opportunities as everyone else. In 2022, Macarthy graduated from Xavier College Preparatory in her hometown of Phoenix, Arizona with a 4.0 GPA. She was the Vice President of the National Honor Society and enjoyed community service. Outside of the classroom, she enjoyed various extracurriculars such as running track and cross country, babysitting, and tutoring. Macarthy is passionate about hiking and traveling, always finding appreciation from nature. Along with neuroscience and psychology, Macarthy loves being creative through collaging, journaling, and poetry. At the end of a busy day, Macarthy likes to relax with some froyo and a movie. Macarthy is excited to share her fascinations with Curious Cardinals and hopes to inspire others!
