Mayowa J. (IN A NUTSHELL)
Mayowa is a senior at Harvard studying Economics with a minor in Computer Science. In her time at Harvard, Mayowa has served as the Expeditions Chair for the Harvard Undergraduate Women in Business, where she worked to plan multiple trips for members to network with a variety of businesses. She has also held served as a board member (overseeing scholarships and fundraising for Harvard Model Congress). She also spent six months in Granada, Spain completing an intensive Spanish language course during her junior year. This past summer, Mayowa interned at Google’s Chicago office and had a phenomenal time.
In 2019, Mayowa graduated as Valedictorian from Richard Gahr High School, where she served as student body president and under-secretary general for their Model UN team. During high school, Mayowa spent a summer researching the Western Flammulated owl in Utah and another summer at the Aspen Ideas Festival in Colorado, which inspired her to launch a program focused on mentoring and educational equity in her high school. Mayowa was born in Lagos, Nigeria, and moved to Southeast Los Angeles at the age of 4.
In her free time, you can find Mayowa reading, journaling, practicing calligraphy, and listening to music. She also loves making Tik Toks when she travels to a new place, and keeps a travel journal of her favorite restaurants and experiences.
