PRO TIP:

When evaluating whether a mentor would be a good match for your student keep in mind that the greatest leading indicator of success is how well a mentor and their mentee get along.

Questions to ask yourself:

  • Would the student find this person inspiring?
  • Do they share any interests, hobbies, or lived experiences?

Sean C. (IN A NUTSHELL)

Sean is studying Economics and English and pursuing a master's degree in Management Science & Engineering at Stanford University. He’s passionate about all things politics, law, and policy, and he gets most excited when young people advocate for themselves in the electoral process. At school, Sean leads Stanford’s civic engagement and voter registration initiatives and is writing a thesis about the impact of legal credentials on criminal sentencing in South Carolina. Though Sean loves learning, it took him a few tries to figure out his academic passion; he tried everything from physics to computer science to creative writing before finding law and economics. A proud Hoosier, Sean got involved in politics when his mayor ran for president in 2020. He most recently served as Rep. Elissa Slotkin's Press Secretary and on the Legislative Affairs team in the White House. This fall, he will begin his first year at Yale Law School. Sean loves creative writing, soccer, exploring California with friends, standardized tests (really!), hiking with his parents, and board games. A tutor for more than a decade, Sean also loves helping students and can’t wait to meet his mentees :)
