PRO TIP:

When evaluating whether a mentor would be a good match for your student keep in mind that the greatest leading indicator of success is how well a mentor and their mentee get along.

Questions to ask yourself:

  • Would the student find this person inspiring?
  • Do they share any interests, hobbies, or lived experiences?

Sid K. (IN A NUTSHELL)

Sid is a Johns Hopkins graduate with a Bachelor's degree in neuroscience. During his time at Hopkins, he spent his time volunteering with the local MS population, venturing to the local elementary schools to run experiential programs in neuroscience for the students, researching the development of the visual system, and traveling the country with a South Asian fusion a cappella team. Sid hopes to pursue a career in academic medicine which will integrate his passions in teaching and mentoring, science, and interacting with the local community. Currently, he is working at Massachusetts General Hospital where he is investigating ALS using a stem-cell based approach and helping run a clinical trial to further explore the use of spinal cord stimulators in those suffering from chronic pain.

Sid is fluent in 3 languages and has also taken Spanish courses at the university level. In his free time, he enjoys exploring a wide range of fitness classes in Boston including spin, barre, boxing, and yoga. Since growing up in a musical family, Sid learned Indian classical music, taught himself to play finger-style guitar, and since college has developed in interest in music production.
