PRO TIP:

When evaluating whether a mentor would be a good match for your student keep in mind that the greatest leading indicator of success is how well a mentor and their mentee get along.

Questions to ask yourself:

  • Would the student find this person inspiring?
  • Do they share any interests, hobbies, or lived experiences?

Trevor B. (IN A NUTSHELL)

Trevor recently graduated from Harvard College with a degree in Social Studies. He wrote his senior thesis on European social and political theory, focusing in particular on the work of Walter Benjamin (1892-1940). An avid freelance photographer, he loves exploring the convergence between philosophy and art, and has published his photographs on and off campus. Of late, he has taken an interest in woodwork and its intersections with photography.

Most recently, Trevor worked as a Digital Producer at Griffin Editions, a world-renowned fine-art photographic printing, mounting, and framing studio in New York. He worked closely with professional and artistic photographers to produce their works in print format, and played an integral role in producing exhibitions for galleries and museums including David Zwirner, Gagosian, Hauser and Wirth, the Whitney Museum, and the Museum of Modern Art. Trevor is eager to mentor any students interested in learning both digital and analog photographic processes, whether editing on Photoshop, developing film, or printing in the darkroom.

In 2021, he spent four months writing art criticism for Musée magazine, a New York-based publication focusing on photography. In addition to writing reviews of gallery exhibitions, he published longer-form interviews with artists including Ellen Carey and Robin Rhode. He also led a Curious Cardinals workshop that summer on the Fundamentals of Photography. In the past, he has worked extensively in the international NGO sector at education-equity organizations in South Africa and Brazil and a public health organization in Uganda.

Trevor is also an avid musician, and has sung in the Harvard University Choir and hosted a radio show on WHRB, Harvard’s commercial FM radio station, for three years. With a penchant for electronic music, he loves to DJ, and would be excited to teach anyone interested!

Trevor is available and looking to work with students of all ages interested in anything surrounding photography, visual art, creative writing, philosophy, history, literature, and music.
