PRO TIP:

When evaluating whether a mentor would be a good match for your student keep in mind that the greatest leading indicator of success is how well a mentor and their mentee get along.

Questions to ask yourself:

  • Would the student find this person inspiring?
  • Do they share any interests, hobbies, or lived experiences?

Tricia M. (IN A NUTSHELL)

Tricia graduated from Dartmouth College in 2021 with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. She is a competitive alpine ski racer on the US Ski Team and has represented Team USA at two Olympic Games (2018, 2022). She is currently competing on the World Cup Speed Circuit, while working part time at an AI software startup. She is an avid reader, adventurer, writer, friend and engineer. Tricia grew up as one of six homeschooled children in Buffalo NY and has always had an insatiable love of learning both in and out of the classroom. She attended traditional High School in Buffalo NY while earning a spot on the US Ski Team. As she continued her pursuit of her World Cup and Olympic dreams, she didn’t take the conventional path of foregoing school, but instead, continued pursuing her studies at Dartmouth College while competing internationally. This feat was challenging, but it allowed her to grow tremendously, as she was forced to reflect and prioritize what was really important and focus on efficiency and hard work. Today she is excited about creating community, inspiring others to achieve more than they ever thought possible, and encouraging people to forge their own path towards their goals.

WHY THIS MATTERS:

Our mentorship sessions happen virtually over Zoom. It’s important to get a sense of how someone’s personality can come through on a video call. The best way to ensure your student is excited about learning is to have someone on the other side that they look forward to talking to.
