PRO TIP:

When evaluating whether a mentor would be a good match for your student keep in mind that the greatest leading indicator of success is how well a mentor and their mentee get along.

Questions to ask yourself:

  • Would the student find this person inspiring?
  • Do they share any interests, hobbies, or lived experiences?

Will P. (IN A NUTSHELL)

Will graduated from Stanford University with a BS in Management Science and Engineering in 2021 and an MS in Sustainability Science and Practice in 2022. He enjoyed playing his cello in the Stanford Symphony Orchestra, running the pick up basketball scene with friends, lifting weights, and staying up late wondering how humans can sustain meaningful economic growth while protecting our most precious resource, the earth. During high school he was the associate principal cellist of the San Jose Youth Symphony and Palo Alto Chamber Orchestra, and was the principal cellist of his school orchestra. He led cello sectionals in his high school orchestra and taught 3 students aged 6 through 13. He graduated in the top 1% of his class with a 4.7 GPA. Now, Will lives in New York City playing his cello, tutoring high school students, reading books, and hunting for a meaningful role at a climate tech startup. After serving as Head of Business Development at a coastal flood risk data startup called HighTide Intelligence during his masters, he knows this is where he can create impact at scale. His ultimate goal is to help as many people as he can by pursuing the creation of intergenerational well-being. He loves bringing people joy and believes this is his calling.
